European transport will grow by 4.7%

Due above all to the Covid-19 pandemic, in 2020, European road haulage recorded a decrease of 5.9% compared to the previous year.

TransportIntelligence - a leading provider of market research solutions for the global logistics sector - estimates that in 2021 the market will grow by 4.7% thanks to the resumption of industrial production and the increase in consumer spending.

However, the market faces some challenges: the reduction in employment and the current rate of vaccinations carried out in Europe - still too low to be able to ease the restrictions on the movement of people - could jeopardize economic growth. Another European challenge is Brexit: the delays and confusion caused by the new cross-border procedures are reducing the traffic of industrial vehicles and pushing shippers to avoid transport with Great Britain.

At the end of the research, TransportIntelligence analysts say the trucking market will return to pre-pandemic levels by the end of 2025.
